Reminder: I am not your negro. I’m not sure what some of y’all thought this was, but it’s not all breast cancer photos and feel good messages. I have never and will never center whiteness/white systems on this page. I am always questioning and critiquing what we have been told is the “right” thing to do. (I thought this was evident in me being topless on a white system called Instagram and calling out censorship rules on femme bodies, but trust me, I get the anti-black microscope of scrutiny Black femmes are always under) . . . Second reminder: Using Black and Brown pain to mobilize white people does not work- It never has (i.e viral tweet by @chelsanity ). Holding white folks to account for their legacy of violence – now that’s the sweet spot. When you find a celebrity/white person doing that BEFORE and AFTER an Election Day- holler at your girl. Otherwise, it’s pain porn and sympathy for folks who they believe are less than them while separating themselves into believing because they vote Democrat or are liberal or campaigned for the black folks running that they magically no longer have a direct hand in their marginalization. If most of your following is white people and you are not calling them in daily, you are a part of the problem. Again, white folks need to gather each other and stop looking and shaming us into saving them. . . Besides, if you only take action in the name of black and brown folks on Election Day, you 👏🏿 do 👏🏿 not 👏🏿 care. . . Dismantling systems of oppression is EVERYDAY work, EVERYWHERE- not just on social media for one day. . . Final reminder: WE GOT WORK TO DO. What’s the action plan for EVERY state, as while it’s great there’s some melanin additions they are not safe in a predominantly white institution, so don’t just treat this like a diversity check mark. Check on your people fighting the good fight in political offices, academia, in the trenches and just out here surviving. It’s ALL work in a country founded and committed to our erasure. . . #reminders #electionresults Photo by ME for @ryanmcginleystudios ryanmcginleystudios ‘Mirror, Mirror’ project

Hi, I have rarely done these intro posts but I have noticed new followers so wanted to say Hola and Welcome! . . I am Black (descendant of the transatlantic slave trade), queer, non-binary femme (she/they pronouns), occasional model, kinky, poly, Breast cancer survivor, plant Mom and Sagittarius. . . My paid work is a Sexuality Educator- with a focus on gender and racial justice. I have been teaching sex ed for ten years and some change. I am an adjunct professor at a couple universities throughout NYC and bring this work to a city near you! I quit working for the non- profit industrial complex and started working for myself two years ago! So lots of time spent reading/grading papers in heels, underwear and my bonnet! 🤗 . . My partner Ebony(he/him) (Gemini- the May version) (He also wants you to know that he’s from the deep east – aka East Oakland) is my boo, manager and sometimes photographer (lol). We both have about twenty years of racial justice work between the two of us. We are constantly in a conversation/ in action towards black liberation. We are multifaceted individuals and talk about pretty much everything under the very black sun. We have a podcast on SoundCloud and iTunes called ‘Hoodrat to Headwrap’ (whispers: go listen). . . Nice to meet y’all! Welcome to a space that works to not center oppressive structures (although instagram is absolutely one of those structures) . . . Now, you’re turn- say HIII! #intro #nicetomeetyou #queer #veryblack #nonbinary #femme #sexeducator #racialjustice #plantmom #books #thickthighssavelives Panties: @playfulpromises Book: The History of White People by Nell Irvin Painter
