Italian giants AC Milan have taken three points from the opening game of the Europa League versus Celtic. Despite playing at home in Celtic Park, the Glasgow side took too long to warm up, ending the game with a 3-1 loss.
Celtic conceived two goals in the first half with Milan’s Rade Krunić scoring after just 14 minutes. Brahim Díaz scored again for the Italian side just before the half at 42 minutes.
Despite a late push Celtic just couldn’t get it going against AC Milan
The Hoops had a lot to overcome when they came out in the second half and performed in line with some of the better Celtic sides that have competed in Europe.
Neil Lennon’s Celtic side rallied in the second and Mohamed Elyounoussi scored a 76 minute header, giving the Scottish champions hope.
This didn’t last long however. Milan’s Jens Petter Hauge nipped in late to secure the win for the Rossoneri, scoring two minutes into extra time.
Celtic need to step up their game if they’re looking to gain points in later rounds.
