Rangers have beaten Standard Liege in Belgium by 2-0 in their opening game of the Europa League.
They came under pressure soon after as Standard Liege’s Jackson Muleka struck the crossbar twice in the space of ten minutes.
With Alfredo Morelos having two close-range efforts saved by Arnaud Bodart, and Scott Arfield failing to hit the target from the edge of the area, the game then looked as if it was poised to finish 1-0 heading into the closing stages.
Kemar Roofe hit the back of the net from the halfway line
A 19th minute penalty scored by James Tavernier put the Glasgow side in front. Rangers came close to doubling their advantage almost immediately however as Ianis Hagi’s long-range effort whistled just wide.
However, after collecting the ball in midfield, with the goal at his mercy, capped off the game with a truly stunning goal.
The former Leeds United and Anderlecht striker picked up the ball in his own half before hitting an unbelievable shot from just over the halfway line. It soared over the Liege keeper and left the entire team stunned.
No one watching could believe what they’d just witnessed.
