This was a magnificent debut by the County representative. Stirling County Rugby Club President Lorne Boswell said: “We at County could not be any prouder of Rachel who fully deserved to be picked for the national squad and to play the way she has on her debut, and to also score a try, and that the only try Scotland scored in the game, makes us extremely proud.”

National manager Bryan Easson said: “It’s been pleasing to see the players pushing for places and Rachel Shankland has been rewarded for her efforts. Rachel was outstanding on the day and long may that continue.”
