ABOUT US

The latest news and views for young people in Scotland’s central belt. Meet the team: Editor-in-chief ~ Ryan Dinsdale My name’s Ryan Dinsdale, an award-winning journalist based in Stirling. I’ve been published in print and online in the UK and US, but mostly at home here in Scotland. I’ve appeared several times in the leading Scottish newspapers like the Scotsman, Herald, and National. I’ve also appeared in many local newspapers across the country, such as the Falkirk Herald, Oban Times, and Dumfries Standard. I used to co-edit the sport section of Brig, Stirling university’s award-winning newspaper, which we led to a national SPA award. I mainly enjoy writing longform features on interesting characters, including Olympians and Oscar winners. Deputy Editor ~ Iona Young My name is Iona Young. I am an experienced, ambitious and driven SSJA nominated student journalist due to graduate in June 2021. I am editor-in-chief of the University of Stirling’s award-winning Brig Newspaper and have by-lines in the Edinburgh Evening News, The Oban Times and Tales from Lockdown. I grew up in the Southside of Edinburgh and have enjoyed writing from a young age. Predominately I write news, entertainment and features. I have interviewed many people including Nae Pasaran director Felipe Bustos Sierra, musician Callum Beattie, Emmy award nominated filmmaker Kit Williamson, and look forward to interviewing many more for Central Scope. Bringing young people news that affects them across the Central Belt. Head of marketing ~ Roslyn Scott  Hi, I’m Ros and I’m a marketing enthusiast. I’m currently head of Advertising for Brig Newspaper and I was a stringer for Sky News on Election Night last year. My bylines include the Oban Times, Brig and Tales from Lockdown. Chief Reporter ~ Léo Prigent My name is Léo Prigent. I am a 20-year-old at the University of Stirling. As a member of Central Scope I am mostly covering Stirling area. I was born and grew up in France, in a little town on the Atlantic Coast. I was interested in journalism since I was a kid. I wanted to be reporter to discover people’s stories and to tell them to others. My experience in Stirling gave me a new look on what journalism is and what is my role as a journalist. As a member of Central Scope, I want to tell people more and more stories about the Stirling local community and its surroundings. Chief Culture Reporter ~ Ruby Moir

I’m a fourth-year journalism student currently based in Edinburgh. I’m particularly interested in culture and arts. As the daughter of an artist, I have always been interested in the visual arts, as well as theatre and fashion and the creative people who work in these fields.

I am also interested in technology, particularly in issues surrounding data privacy, internet culture, and social media. Social media is quickly becoming the primary way many young people access and interact with the world around them, so I feel that tech news is more important than ever.
