For those of you who are a fan of the show, and even those who haven’t heard of it until now, Great News is returning to Netflix with a second season that promises to be just as silly and entertaining as the first and you should definitely head on over to watch it.
The American sitcom follows the story of upcoming News Producer Katie Wendelson (Briga Heelan), who wants to be taken more seriously by her boss and given opportunities to produce hard news content that matters. Feeling stuck and doubting herself, she turns to her mother Carol (Andrea Martin), who gives her the usual motherly pep-talk, but unbeknownst to Katie, her mother has also been looking for something more in life.
I don’t know about you guys, but I couldn’t personally think of anything more stressful than having my mum intern where I work (sorry Mum, I love you), so you can only imagine the horror Katie feels when she finds out about Carol’s new venture.
Each episode is filled with 20 odd minutes of light-hearted comedy, an abundance of characters to warm to, and shows snippets of the reality of life and the pay-off that is hard work and perseverance.
With a talented and highly funny cast ranging from John Michael Higgins, Nicole Richie, Adam Campbell and more, I definitely recommend this show if you’re looking for something short, sweet and fun. The family friendly show now has 13 more episodes in the second season, which I am really excited to get stuck in to, the first picking up where the last episode of season 1 left off.
NBC originally cancelled the show after the second season in May of this year, but we can only hope that this season will prove popular and successful for Netflix to renew it.
