People before Profit – Stirling SSP society

For an Independent, Socialist Scotland

“Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.”

John Maynard Keynes

For the millions, not the millionaires.

The Scottish Socialist Party stands for a modern, democratic, independent socialist republic.  We see independence not as an end in itself but as a means to building a fairer society and improving the lives of the working class across Britain.

We resist oppression and injustice and believe that life can be better than the poverty and precariousness that people face at the moment. Although unemployment is claimed to be at an all time low, much of that work is low-paid and insecure.

We take on the unscrupulous employers and fight for better pay and conditions.

Whilst we believe that breaking free of the British state is necessary to make the changes we seek, we have policies which can improve the lives of many in the meantime.  A society that puts people before profit.

Key demands:

  • A £10 an hour Living (Minimum) Wage and an end to Zero-Hour contracts
  • A free and publicly owned transport system
  • Replace the Council Tax with an income based Scottish Service Tax
  • Build 100,000 new council houses over the next parliament
  • Public ownership of the energy industry
