When you throw a pebble into a pond there is not only a big splash in the water but lots of ripples that flow far and wide from the initial splash. Often a diagnosis of motor neurone disease can seem like this with the effects rippling out into all aspects of people’s lives.
The aim of the project is to explore people living with MND’s experiences of coping or not coping with the effects that a diagnosis of motor neurone disease has had within their lives both at work and at home.
We’d like to find out how people dealt with these challenges and what things or people either helped or did not help. How people cope with challenges can be a very individual thing and what works for one person may not work for someone else. By listening to people’s individual experiences we’re hoping to build up a picture of the similarities and differences in the ways people cope.
Our aim is to use these results to help inform the future healthcare for people living with MND.
