Edinburgh is preparing for the Celtic New Year ritual taking place on Calton Hill tonight at 7pm.
The event, run by Beltane Fire Society, is returning to create a Halloween event that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
“As we turn to face the dark wintry months together,” Beltane said, “hundreds of otherworldly creatures will awaken all over Calton Hill and gather for an epic struggle between Winter and Summer.”
Residents are preparing for the ritual which will feature a mix of fire, drumming, acrobatics and immersive theatre.
The battle between the Winter King and the Summer King will unfold up-close. Their fates will be decided afterwards by a weather deity, known as a “Cailleach.”
The event starts at 7pm. Stay updated for footage from the event – here at The Scotia Scoop.
