Through the Looking Glass

Whispers in the wind suggest that Charlie Brooker’s high-tech near-future Black Mirror is about to rock the boat yet again. Bloomberg today reported that as early as next season they might be releasing an interactive episode where you choose how it ends.

If you’ve not seen any of Black Mirror’s four seasons then as brief description; it is a contemporary reimagining of “The Twilight Zone” built up of the collective unease about the modern world – it goes beyond your Nan’s fear of the clicker.

This news comes as sources, who wished to remain unnamed, stated that Netflix was working on several specials that will let viewers personalise the storyline of a movie or episode, and the company is projecting an initial release as early as the end of this year.

As for the upcoming series of Black Mirror, viewers will get to choose their own storylines in one of the episodes in season 5. Famous for exploring the implications of technology on society this amalgamation of a gaming trope with TV could be revolutionary, and knowing Black Mirror, terrifying.
