The Data Commons Scotland project is holding a workshop focused on data in the reuse sector.
Draft agenda:
- Overview of Data Commons Scotland project work with third sector data
- Sharing experiences: current data practices and challenges for TSOs working to reduce waste / increase reuse
- Imagining a better future: what do you need? what do you want? what are the barriers?
- Next steps
Data Commons Scotland (https://campuspress.stir.ac.uk/datacommonsscotland/) is a UKRI-funded project looking at how to make better use of data on waste and reuse in Scotland. You can see an example of the work we’ve been doing with Transition Stirling’s Community Food project here: https://wastemattersscotland.org/prototype-6/#/stirling-community-food.
Our work to date with third sector organisations has helped to highlight both the opportunities and the challenges that come with increasing use of data by groups trying to divert resources from being wasted. We’ve seen a lot of commonalities and know that some of you have already found solutions to problems that others are facing, or you’re beginning to see new opportunities for collaboration if, for example, you could share your data both with service-users/customers and other organisations a bit more effectively.
We will cover travel expenses (public transport or mileage) and lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending, please contact us at dcs@stir.ac.uk, giving a brief description of your organisation’s work and your interest in attending.
