Bend, Bounce, Flip and Flounce

If you do what you love, it’s the best way to relax – Christian Louboutin.

There is a huge list to choose from when you decide to join a sports club at The University of Stirling. It can be tricky to put your finger on what is best for you, and can also feel slightly intimidating. You may not know anyone there or have done the sport before after all!

However, at the Stirling University Trampoline and Gymnastic club, there is nothing to be scared of. They’re a lovely bunch of people, with a heart of gold and full of chatter. The trampolines are surrounded by safety mats, and there are so many coaches around to make sure you’re doing everything safely and correctly.

As one of the more energetic groups within the sports union, they spend five days of the week practicing their skills and working on their strength to perform beautifully, but also have a great time. (Who doesn’t want to be like Tigger right?!)

Each member of the club makes it seem more like a close family than just team members. They all cheer each other on as they get on the trampolines, more so when they land their flips and tricks, and give praise if one of them fall. There is no unpleasant behaviour in the room; only a positive atmosphere, making it a fun and comfortable place to be.

Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are practice days for trampolining, and Wednesday and Saturday focus on gymnastics in the Gannochy main gym hall. Each day has different hours, so they regularly change. The times are as follows:

Trampoline

  • Tuesday – 18:00-20:00
  • Thursday – 19:30-22:00
  • Sunday – 17:30-20:00

Gymnastics

  • Wednesday- 11:00-13:00
  • Saturday- 11:00-13:00

It isn’t too costly either! £25 if you just want to do one semester, or £35 for the full year. It includes both trampolining and gymnastics, you don’t have to pick one or the other. The struggle isn’t real in this club!

But don’t worry; it’s not all about the serious stuff here! The team believe in work hard-play hard, and love to organise social events on a regular basis to make sure everyone is happy socially too.
