THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

We would first like to introduce ourselves. We are the Stirling Musical Theatre Society.

What we basically do is to meet in a weekly basis and experience the world of singing, dancing and acting all together. We also like to share our thoughts, experiences and tastes for our passion: musicals. HOWEVER, for those who have always wanted to give it a try to this world but haven’t had the opportunity: THIS IS ALSO YOUR SOCIETY! As in any play or musical there is always people willing to do solos and to be centre-stage while others prefer to accompany singers or to do chorus in the background. The thing is, EVERYONE IS IMPORTANT ON THE STAGE!

We want you to come here, enjoy and let you be amazed of this wonderful discipline. If music has always been an important part of your life and you want to go a step further, this is the right place to go. The members of our society are students of all ages and coming from different areas within the university.

Our ordinary activities basically consist on meeting once a week to do workshops based on musical theatre: sing, dance, act or mix it all together! We also run two plays per semester in which everyone who wants to participate has a spot but it is not a compulsory thing of members of the society. We also do some social activities such as watching musicals, pub crawls or just meeting for a drink!

If you like music but are still asking yourself why should you prioritize doing musical theatre among other activities like going to the gym or developing your managerial skills here is the answer: MUSICAL THEATRE BENEFITS IN MANY ASPECTS OF OUR LIFE! Here, we provide 10 reasons of how it could help or even change your daily life:

  1. Singing is good for your heart and by dancing you exercise and stay fit improving coordination and health condition
  2. It builds confidence
  3. It’s relaxing
  4. It’s a natural beauty treatment: you exercise facial muscles by singing
  5. It’s a good way to meet new people
  6. It lifts your mood. Music cheers your up and the levels of the called “feeling good chemicals” are risen in your body.
  7. It helps you to know yourself by going through different characters.
  8. It is intellectually challenging
  9. Improves your focus: actors are always analysing, observin and listening to people and their interactions.
  10. There are no rules: you are given freedom to invent and play without restrictions.

If this doesn’t sound enough fun to you, this is probably not your society.

BUT, if your feet started moving just by reading this post or if you can’t stop singing that song… you should definitely come to one of our sessions and “Give a try to something you have loved doing or would have loved to do: sing, dance and act while you make new friends and have fun!”
