Then this is the post for you! Together we will get you motivated with these exciting activity opportunities, all brought to you by the Stirling Sports Centre!

Coming out of Fresher’s week, the realisation that you have eaten and drank much more than you really should have hits, and you decide that this is the time to find that new hobby, that not only increases your good health, but gets you excited to get up and go!

The following list has been designed to create the path of least resistance for you from the initial interest to walking out your door to join in. They flow from those which require the least exertion to the options that have such draw that they will distract you from the unfortunate physical components.

The Top 5 workouts that don’t feel like exercise:

1. Aquacise

These water-based workouts have many perks. For one; they have minimal physical impact, for those of us burdened with knee injuries for example, the water creates a weightless experience that anyone within the fitness world craves. Then after a relaxing and beneficial work out you are set up for the showers to stretch off and cool down before heading out.

2. Yoga

Yoga has many complex and meaningful definitions, depending on where you have received your information. One of which being;

“Yoga is an ancient art based on a harmonising system of development for the body, mind and spirit. The continued practise of yoga will lead you to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being one with the environment.”

However, to me it refers to an hour long period of comfy clothes, relaxing music with the occasional excruciating stretch manoeuvre thrown in there. So why not take some time out of your stressful day to ‘workout’ in a soothing and tranquil environment?

3. Trampoline

“The trampoline is considered to be one of the best forms of exercise for adults”

Yes, this is a quote from a health and fitness magazine and not just an excuse to go and have a bounce! Not only is the trampoline a fun filled stress free pass time but it has been proven by NASA to be very good for your health and well-being.

Here are the top benefits that the trampoline will have on you:

  • Good cardiovascular fitness: a NASA study showed that 10 minutes bouncing is a better cardiovascular workout that a 30 minute run, surely that’s more than enough incentive?
  • Muscle toning: with your core constantly engaged this exercise is beneficial for toning all muscle groups. It has more emphasis on the stomach and lower back.
  • It’s a fun exercise: who doesn’t like a good bounce?
